Please Mr. Postman

In 1961, “Please Mr. Postman,” sung by the Marvelettes, became a number 1 hit song in America.  In 1962, the Beatles were performing it during their live acts.  The song would hit the number one spot again in 1975 in a version sung by the Carpenters.  I thought you might like to see (and hear) the different versions.

NOTE:  For those of you not alive in the 60’s and 70’s, a postman was a person who carried around written communications (they called them “letters”) and delivered them to special boxes for individuals.  It was a fascinating system.  In some cases it still exists.
