Received a check … well, an internet bank transfer

I just received a payment from Amazon.com for my sales on their website.  In the old days, I would have walked out to the mailbox, seen the envelope with Amazon on it, realized it wasn’t a bill but a check (believe me, they look different), opened it and pulled out the physical check with my name on it and the amount they were giving me.  I would have hung on to it for a few days so my wife and kids could see that I was actually earning a living at this writing thing.  Then I would have taken it to the bank and deposited it into my account, knowing that the teller was probably impressed that she was dealing with a professional writer.

Today, I received a email message from Amazon that they transferred funds electronically from their account to mine.

Not nearly as much fun as the old days.
