I recently signed a contract to option PREACHER MAN to CPA Films.
I developed the family comedy storyline with my writing partner, Steve Sweet, and then I wrote the screenplay. The script has done well in contests and led to some good contacts with several producers.
It now goes into that wonderful world called “Development.” Development is a place where the producer tries to put together the project. If the producer is successful, the project gets made and is seen (hopefully by many thousands of people). This is the goal of the storyteller — to have the story told.
If the producer is unsuccessful, the project doesn’t get made, the option runs out, and I’m back to pitching the script to other producers.
Needless to say, I’m pulling for the producer on this one.
